ABOUT US

The Save Sight Registries is one of the most advanced ophthalmic registries in the world, and is a unique platform for tracking eye disease, interventions and patient outcomes. Its sophisticated design delivers real-world evidence on the risks and benefits of current and new treatments for ocular conditions. This information helps clinicians provide safe, cost-effective and evidence-based solutions for vision impairment and avoidable blindness. The Save Sight Registries also promotes international scientific research aimed at developing strategies for reducing the incidence of blindness throughout the world.

The Save Sight Registries is an initiative of the Save Sight Institute, in collaboration with the University of Sydney and Sydney Eye Hospital.

APPROACH

  • We provide clinicians with training and support for using the system
  • Clinicians enter anonymised data on treatments and outcomes collected at patient visits
  • Our software automatically generates graphs that display individual patient journeys
  • Clinicians generate reports that summarise outcomes for their patients and other clinicians’ patients
  • We coordinate and publish analyses of the real-world data captured in the system
  • Clinicians are acknowledged for their contributions, and may be invited to co-author publications that include their data
  • Patients and clinicians benefit from new knowledge gained on a range of ocular conditions

MODULES

Fight Retinal Blindness! - This module captures data on a range of treatments for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), choroidal neovascularisation other than nAMD, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion
Fight Glaucoma Blindness! - This module focuses on the safety and effectiveness of devices that are used in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), which are designed to reduce or eliminate the need for glaucoma eye drops or invasive surgery
Fight Corneal Blindness! - This module focuses on outcomes of corneal cross-linking - a technique that uses riboflavin and UVA to strengthen the cornea to reduce the progression of keratoconus
Fight Tumour Blindness! - This module collects data on survival and quality of life following treatment of ocular melanoma - a rare form of cancer
Fight Uveitis Blindness! - This module gathers a comprehensive range of quantitative and qualitative data on the treatment of uveitis - a form of inflammation in the eye that has a broad range of causes
Fight Childhood Blindness! - This module tracks conditions affecting the vision of infants and children, with a specific focus on retinopathy of prematurity
Fight Inherited Retinal Blindness! - This module tracks the outcomes following emerging treatments in patients with inherited retinal diseases
